Melanoma deaths in the UK 1971-2008

more than 2,000 Britons died from melanoma in 2008. Early surgery is the only good cure. This depends on early diagnosis. This means better education of the general public about which moles to get checked and easier access to well trained diagnosticians. Consultant dermatologists are the best trained people, for sure, but there are few of them and they have so much else to do. GPs and practice nurses should be better trained in the skill of detecting early skin cancers, because people can get to see them much easier than hospital specialists.

This graph must be made to level out and decline. In fact, I can manage without the levelling out bit, straight decline will suit me fine.
