Harmless mole 1

a harmless looking naevus

Note the symmetry, lack of any abrupt edge features, gentle fade out of colour from a somewhat darker centre to a somewhat lighter edge, and some reticular pigment network. Naevi like this are all the more reassuring when the invidual has many of similar shape and colour. Beginners with dermoscopy should study hundreds of moles about which there is no suspicion in order to get a feel for the normal range of skin microscopic appearances.
