Dark line in a thumbnail

This lesion was referred on the urgent melanoma pathway. Very short history.

There is a longitudinal line of pigment, but also evidence of trauma. A clue in the history- this is a hard working manual laborer.

It’s always useful to compare the other side.

Both thumbnails show signs of chronic hard work. This makes trauma that much more likely, as does the short history.

Dermoscopy shows droplets of blood.

The holistic approach points to trauma. No need for either biopsy or review. Reassurance and advice.
